The You Tube video (link below, copy and paste) was shot mainly at the House of Joy by the young ladies that stayed during the month of June 2016. They spent a lot of time with the girls, teaching English, and doing some tutoring, sharing God's Word, having fun--just being GIRLS! What a blessing each one of them are to spend part of their summer being the hands and feet of Jesus!

House of Joy began under the direction of Pastor Brisenault and his wife, Joseline in 2011. Although they have one daughter together, her name is Emma, God laid bigger plans on their hearts and in their minds. The care and nurturing, education and Christian principals of many more young girls would soon become their calling.
Since then, the home has grown to 26, with four employees. A couple of the girls are siblings, some are orphans, many are from families that were unable to care for them and they were given up...but all of the girls, individually, have their own story to tell. The Joy in Haiti organization has, through God's blessing of donations, fundraisers & blessings of friends, been able to maintain the financial considerations required to house, feed & clothe all girls. The number of girls was just 19 until 2014--when six were added by the Haitian government all at one time. And, if you have girls yourself, you may understand the needs of a growing girl---and right now, the majority of the 24 are between 10-13 years of age. Simply due to the growth of each child, Joy in Haiti is being met with financial obligations beyond the previous scope. We knew that a change had to happen, and so, the idea of individual "House Sponsorship" came to mind. After prayerful consideration, if you and your family would like step in to become a part of the care that is given for one of the girls at House of Joy, we welcome you to check out the HOJ Sponsorship Program that is available! We encourage not only an individual person/couple to sponsor, but also small groups from church, a circle of friends or even just a few extended family members will help to disburse the monthly sponsor fees. We mostly ask for your prayers for each of them. These girls face the same challenges as girls here in the U.S., and then some! They need your prayers and each are blessed in knowing that "someone out there" prays for them, loves them and thinks of them daily. |
In December 2016, the property owner where House of Joy is located began the construction of a second 2-story building!
The home for the two dozen girls, once a very small three-room one story building expanded to have a 2-story building just over a year ago. Now, with the growth of the girls and extreme need for larger space, they will have not one, but TWO two-story buildings! There are 2 dozen girls plus 3-4 care-takers that reside at HOJ. Although this addition IS indeed a blessing in terms of additional space, it will inevitablby mean additional rent to pay each year. The monthly HOJ sponsorship program helps to offset this cost-- 80% of the girls are sponsored--just a handful remain in need of sponsorship, your prayers & your heart to care for their daily needs.
