Just checking things out for now? Well, we're glad you are! Keep on scrolling....
The students at NCST appreciate your interest in this program not just for the fact that their school fees will be half paid--because kids have no concern about those things...and not just for the fact that they'll get to spend some time outside the classroom doing projects, making pictures or writing letters for their sponsor--something different than a usual school day (which was ALWAYS fun, if you recall!)...but they love being a part of the Sponsorship Program because of YOU. Because someone SO FAR away cares about THEM--how they are doing in school, if there's a prayer request, if they have specific needs to help them do better in school....they love hearing about you, your family, your pets, they love seeing your face on a picture--because you will have a connection to them, whether you ever meet them or not.
The students in Haitian schools KNOW that it is because of you that they are able to continue their education. Most families in Haiti cannot afford to send their children to school. So many simply do not. It is a fact and all students are aware that many times their educational opportunity is because of US Sponsors. ...From JIH and the students, THANK YOU for your sincere interest. We encourage your questions, suggestions and of course, if you are able, to visit and see first hand where your funds are growing minds and hearts.

School Sponsorship yearly fee's ($200 per student) are accepted beginning in August. You may pay the entire fee all at once or elect to split the fee into two payments. Of course we are happy to accept sponsorship payments any time of the year!
The sponsorship program helps to fund the tuition of each child sponsored. The tuition helps to pay teachers' salaries, purchase books and school supplies, build desks, make improvements when needed and have running water and electricity.
Please keep in mind that Joy in Haiti is a 501(c)3 organization, any & all of your contributions may be tax deductible!
Currently, contributions can be paid in a check form to the address on the CONTACT page or by the secure PayPal link above!.

See pictures below of students during sponsorship time--writing letters, making a craft, having their sponsor's letter translated to them--it's a wonderfully magical time for the children to hear about someone writing specifically TO THEM. Knowing that someone here prays for them, considers their well-being, cares for them.
It's truly as much of a gift to YOU as it is for THEM.
At various times throughout the year, teams will travel and you, as a sponsor, will have the opportunity to send letters and photos to your sponsored child. A small gift is always welcome, however we do ask that it be kept in mind that space (size and weight) is very, very limited.
We ask that your gifts fit in a quart sized zip-lock bag that is able to be zipped closed.
We thank you for wanting to brighten your sponsored student's life by caring and sharing with them in this way! Please know that they will be equally as blessed to hear from you through a simple handwritten letter as well! Gifts are not necessary.

A few ideas for sending & sharing items with your sponsored child-------
- Photographs - An obvious choice! They will long to see photographs of you, just as you do them! Send pictures of your family, pets, weather, backyard, sunrise, grassy scenes, local birds, friends, neighbors, vacations, holidays. Avoid sending pictures of your home, rooms with "stuff"/material possessions. We wouldn't want a student feeling inadequate in their own (lack of) possessions.
- Stickers - All kids love stickers. Stick some stickers onto your actual letter, send sticker sheets to let your student use them on his/her own. Send stickers of things that a child growing up in a developing country will understand, like animals, flowers, hearts (not necessarily Transformers & Disney princesses).
- Bookmarks - Send bookmarks that feature pictures of animals, holograms, or sweet Bible verses. This might even encourage your student to read more and explore learning the English language! Combine two in one--a bookmark with your pic or stickers on it!
- Postcards - When you're on vacation, grab a postcard, write a note to your student. Even if its months later, it's a great way to let him/her know that you're thinking of them all the time. They'll feel special but its also a terrific geography lesson learning opportunity.
- Socks/Underwear - Socks, especially white lacy for church or black for school, short socks for play shoes. All can be flattened out, placed into an envelope. Most children will always have a need new socks/underwear.
- Hair Accessories - If your sponsored student is a girl, send colorful elastic hair bands, ribbons & clips.
- Homemade Drawings - Draw pictures for your student. Draw your yard, pets, or even yourself. Draw the foods you like to eat. Draw a school or church. Draw hobbies, sports, instruments. If you have kids, ask them to draw pictures to send to your sponsored student.
- Paper Dolls - This is another good gift for little girls. You can send dolls & paper outfits for your sponsored student to play with. You may want to laminate the doll itself, because it will become well-worn in a short period of time.
- Puzzles - Purchase a small puzzle, take it out of the box. Put the pieces in a smaller sized baggie where they will lay flat. Label it with the puzzle name and piece count.
- Origami - Make your student an origami creature and flatten it into the envelope. You could also send origami paper with easy to follow drawn instructions. That would be a fun craft for your student to try!
- Coloring Pages - All kids like to color. You could send colored pencils/crayons along with the coloring page or printed mazes!
- Colorful Ribbons - These will be pretty and eye-catching to your child. If your student is a girl, she might even be able to tie the ribbon into her hair or use it as a bracelet. If your student is a boy, he could use the ribbon as a bookmark.
- Balloons - Obviously, you'll want to send the balloon flat, not aired-up.
- Poetry - Write your student a poem. Be sure to mention that you wrote it just for him/her! Include the student's name within the poem.
- Band-Aids - You may want to explain what band-aids are for. Use colorful, eye-catching band-aids (rather than those with images of popular American icons, like Transformers or Superheros that your sponsored child might not be able to understand).
- Buttons - Buttons are useful, flat, and cute. Girls will especially love these.
- Baseball/Soccer/Basketball/Etc Cards - Boys of all countries love sports. You might be surprised about their knowledge of popular athletes. They'll treasure sports cards.
- Pressed Flowers/Leaves - You may want to laminate these so they won't crumble in the mail. Pressed flowers and leaves can help your child see what kind of plants you have where you live.
- Small Calendar Pages - A child might not ever have her own calendar. Print out small pages and circle dates with American and Haitian holidays and even your birthday. Be sure to send a future dated calendar in advance.
- Friendship Bracelets - Those little bracelets that are made out of colorful braids and string are small and pretty. Explain to your child what a friendship bracelet is. Perhaps you could wear an identical one to help you remember to pray for your child! Send a picture of you wearing it!
